ENDWELL, N.Y. -As the holiday season approaches, Boy Scout troops are making sure everyone has a happy holiday.

The Baden-Powell Council and Boy Scouts of America announced the start of their annual Scouting For Food drive Thursday.

Scouting For Food is the Baden-Powell Council's largest service project as scouts collect close to four tons of food in the first three weekends of November.

The food collected will help serve residents in need across five counties including Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties.

Scouts are collecting donations by placing door hangers on porches throughout the five counties. These door hangers serve as a location for residents to drop off food donations.

The scouts will then return to the neighborhoods where the door hangers were placed and pick up the donation bags on Saturday mornings in November.

"We'll go around and fill up the bags of food go around neighbors or around our own cabinets finding canned goods," said Andrew Larter, Boy Scout, Life Rank.

The annual donation drive is sponsored by Visions Federal Credit Union.

  • Visions Contributes to Creation of Future Fund

    Visions Federal Credit Union’s President/CEO Ty Muse joined credit union industry leaders and representatives of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) during the African American Credit Union Hall of Fame event at the Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC, where they were thrilled to announce the creation of the AACUC’s Future Fund. Visions is one of nine initial investors in the new Future Fund and Muse is proud to serve as the founding Chairperson for the initiative.
