GLEN GARDNER, N.J. – Financial Wellness Bootcamp, a contest from Visions Federal Credit Union, has concluded and Beatriz Monterroso of Glen Gardner is one of the winners.

The contest, launched in June 2021, provided a unique chance for Visions members to get their personal finances on track, whether they were trying to buy a house, pay off debt, or just improve their credit score.

Last year, Monterroso started a nine-month, guided curriculum to help her reach her financial goal of more responsible money management and increase her credit score. Contestants met monthly with a designated branch coach and Financial Wellness Officer, engaged with financial wellness resources, and even had a one-on-one meeting with President and CEO Ty Muse.

"The most positive part of our meetings with Bea is seeing how she is taking the advice from our financial literacy partners and applying them to her daily life. She is excited to tell us about her progress since our last sessions," Washington Township Branch Manager Teresa March said. "She is growing more and more confident with each session, knowing for herself how she is making a difference in her finances."

During Financial Wellness Bootcamp, Monterroso increased her credit score by more than five points and reduced her debt by over $250. As a reward for her dedication to the program, Visions will award her $5,000 to continue her progress.

"Visions is always looking for unique ways to give back, so we presented this opportunity to our members to show the community what is possible when they work with us," Visions President and CEO Ty Muse said. "We hope that Beatriz will serve as an inspiration to others looking to improve their personal finances, no matter what that goal may be."

Visions invited members from all the communities they serve across three states to apply for the program. Monterroso joins Courtney Zaryski of Syracuse, New York; Robert Moore of Binghamton, New York; and Lauren Singleton of Teaneck, New Jersey, as winners.
